Athlete Spotlight: Jacob Ricker
This week’s Athlete Spotlight shines on Jacob Ricker, a standout Junior making big waves on the baseball field.
Jacob holds down second base for the varsity baseball team, and he’s been sharpening his skills for a full decade. His dedication and passion for the sport are paying off in a major way—this season, Jacob earned a starting position last year as a sophomore and proudly bats third in the lineup.
But Jacob’s talents go far beyond the diamond. He’s also a club soccer player and an active member of the school choir, showcasing a well-rounded commitment to athletics and the arts.
When asked what he loves most about baseball, Jacob doesn’t hesitate: it’s the bonding with his teammates.
Looking ahead, Jacob has his sights set high. On a personal level, he’s working toward earning conference honors, while his team goals are nothing short of ambitious: winning the conference and making a strong run through districts.
As for his favorite athlete? LeBron James—a figure known for his work ethic, leadership, and drive to succeed. It’s a fitting inspiration for a young athlete like Jacob, who’s already making a name for himself through talent, heart, and hustle.
Keep an eye on Jacob Ricker this season—he’s just getting started.
Athlete Spotlight: Jade Roeder
This week, we’re putting the spotlight on Jade Roeder, a dedicated and dynamic athlete making her mark on the track.
Jade has been involved in track and field since 7th grade, and her hard work has already led to major accomplishments. Last season, she was a key member of the state-qualifying 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams, showcasing both her speed and her team spirit on one of the biggest stages in high school track.
In addition to track, Jade stays busy and well-rounded, participating in soccer, the Leo Club, and National Honor Society (NHS). Her ability to balance academics, athletics, and extracurriculars speaks to her drive and time management.
When asked what she loves most about track, Jade says it’s all about “having fun with my friends and getting better at track all at the same time.” That positive mindset and team-first attitude are part of what make her a leader both on and off the track.
Looking ahead, Jade is pushing herself to lower her 400m time and earn another trip to State. As for her team, she’s aiming high—she hopes the 4×100 and 4×200 relay squads can break another school record this season.
With her commitment, talent, and love for the sport, Jade Roeder is definitely an athlete to watch this spring.
